How to Use Respondus LockDown with UF

Respondus monitor and the Respondus lockdown web browser can be used to record students' online exams. The browser uses a webcam and microphone to record all details of the exam session. This allows instructors to review the results. The technology can be found in several education systems, including Blackboard. This video shows how to set up and configure the Respondus monitor. After you have set up the system, you can take an exam on the webcam.

Installing Respondus LockDown Browser

Respondus LockDown requires administrative rights to install. If you are using a computer that is not your own, be sure to check the system requirements before installing the software. Click the Download Installer link to download Respondus LockDown browser. To select the file to be installed, click the "Run", or "File Down Installer" buttons. After the installer finishes installing the software close all other programs, except the Internet connection.

Next, click "Install” on the lockdown web browser installation page. The next step is to enter your password. Click "Submit". Once you click "submit," Respondus will begin testing the software. You cannot close it without clicking the Finish button. After passing the test, you'll be presented with a confirmation message. To confirm installation, click "OK". After Respondus LockDown Browser has been installed successfully, you can start taking tests.

Configuring the Respondus Monitor

Once Respondus LockDown has been installed, you can tell the Monitor to use the Monitor's webcam for recording. This will enable you to see the student's results and instructor feedback without having to be in the room. A password is required to prevent other people from accessing your webcam. Next, launch the Respondus Monitor. If you have already configured your LockDown Browser, you can skip the Advanced Settings section and proceed to Configuring the Respondus Monitor.


You can configure the Respondus Monitor to be used in an upcoming exam by logging into your LockDown browser and selecting the "Proctored” option. This option only works for exams that are administered by University Testing Centers. This option requires the use of a LockDown Browser. Additionally, the proctor must be provided with an exam access number. You can then proceed to step 2 if you are able and willing to give the password to your proctor.

Respondus LockDown Browser is a software tool used by UF for administering quizzes and exams. You can't access this tool through any standard browser. To take an exam, you will need to open the Respondus LockDown browser on your computer. After you've logged in with your myUTRGV credentials, open the Respondus LockDown Browser on your computer and navigate to the test you need to take.

To install LockDown Browser on your computer, go to the Chrome web store and download the extension. You must enable the Respondus Monitor webcam. When installing the extension, you'll have to make sure that you've set up your device with a working webcam. Follow the steps in the installer to make sure that Respondus LockDown Browser works with your webcam.

LockDown browsers can be used by colleges and universities to allow you to use the webcam for your exam. You must first set up the quiz in the browser and enable the Respondus Monitor.
